The SCC Breakers 94G White put a cap on a very successful soccer year by clinching first place in the Womens U18 State Premier 2 division of the NorCal Regional Academy League. The final two league matches were played as part of the NorCal Regional Academy League Showcase, held the weekend of November 19-20 in Davis, CA. College coaches from throughout the western United States attended the event to scout prospects for their university soccer programs. The Breakers went undefeated in league play with a record of 8 wins and 1 tie and had overall record of 16 wins, 3 losses, and 4 ties for the year.
The Breakers 94G White began their year competing in the US Club National Cup X Regionals tournament in Modesto, CA. The Breakers won their first three matches in group play, with a 3-0 decision over Manteca FC United, a convincing 7-0 win over the Sacramento United Extreme Red, followed by a 3-1 victory over EDA 94G. On the final day of competition, the Breakers battled the heat and a very tough Cap FC93 team to earn a 2-2 draw. By virtue of their overall record, the Breakers secured first place in their division and were guaranteed a spot in the US Club National Cup X Finals, to be held at the end of July in Boise Idaho.
Before heading off to Idaho, the Breakers 94G White made a stop in Pleasanton, CA, to play in the RAGE College Showcase – one of the marquee soccer events in Northern California. The Breakers found themselves pitted against four teams from Southern California. On the First day of competition, the Breakers had to come from behind to defeat a tough Laguna Hills Eclipse team by a score of 3-2. On the second day, the Breakers lost a close 1-0 battle to the San Diego Soccer Club Navy team. They rebounded in the afternoon match with a 3-0 victory over Chelsea SC G93 Blue team. On the final day of completion, the Breakers took care of business with a close 1-0 victory over a tough Beach FC team. The Breakers overall record of 3 wins and 1 loss was enough to secure second place in their division.
On July 28th, the Breakers 94G White coaches, players, and parents headed to various Bay Area airports to begin their journey to Boise Idaho for a shot at a National Championship. The schedule called for the team to play three matches in a round robin format with one match played each day. In their first match, the Breakers battled the Erie Admirals U17 Girls from Pennsylvania to a 1-1 draw. On the second day of competition, again the result was a draw, this time a scoreless one against the Columbia Premier SC Timbers ’93 Red from Washington. In their final match of group play, the Breakers ran into a very tough St. Croix SC Scorpions team from Minnesota. Unfortunately, the Breakers ended up on the wrong side of a 3-0 defeat. Even with the loss, the Breakers still had a chance to make it into the final. The decision was out of their hands, however, and in the final seconds in the final match in group play, a goal was scored that ended the Breakers chance. The girls were disappointed but still were able to hold their heads high, knowing they had battled hard through the humidity and heat to represent their club and their state (Northern California) well.
The Breakers 94G White are currently taking a break from club soccer while the girls play for their respective high school soccer teams. Club soccer will resume in March after the high school season ends and the Breakers 94G White will pick up where they left off. The Breakers will come back from their high school break to continue play in the NorCal Premier State Cup tournament. The team played three qualification round matches during the fall and by virtue of their 2-1 record qualify for the knock-out round in the State Division Bracket, the top bracket in the tournament.
